Two new inpatient wards for people with blood cancer have opened at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool.

A breast cancer patient from Chester who has modelled for top retail brands has celebrated her 100th chemotherapy treatment at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Please don’t worry if you were asked to get a COVID-19 swab test before treatment but have not been able to get one near where you live. We are contacting all patients who were asked to get COVID-19 swab tests.

This week we'd like to introduce you to Melissa, a second year adult student nurse at the University of Chester. Melissa has a varied volunteer role at our Liverpool hospital from greeting our patients and helping them to their appointments to supporting staff on the wards.

A new UK study has been launched to assess the impact of COVID-19 on people with cancer. People with cancer are among those at higher risk of COVID-19 complications, as cancer and its treatment can weaken the immune system. The Clinical Characterisation Protocol (CCP) CANCER-UK project will run over 12 months and will examine questions that are important for the care of patients with cancer.

On Monday 29th June 2020 we began welcoming outpatients to The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre’s new flagship 11-storey Liverpool hospital and less than eight weeks later our first clinical trials patient rang the End of Treatment Bell overlooking the city’s skyline.

Today we'd like you to meet Wayne who you will see around our new hospital in Liverpool wearing a sunflower lanyard. At the age of 45 Wayne was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of Autism Spectrum Condition, and the sunflower lanyard he wears symbolises a hidden disability.

A national Public Health England (PHE) study which will contribute to the active health surveillance and knowledge of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in NHS workers has now opened at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
